The incident happened Saturday, Feb. 22 in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville.
The 75-year-old "Piano Man" fell while performing his classic hit, “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.”
As Joel engaged with the audience, he momentarily stepped away from his piano and began interacting with the microphone stand.
In a dramatic flourish towards the conclusion of the song, he threw the stand into the air. However, this exuberance resulted in a loss of balance, causing him to tumble to the stage floor.
Audience members quickly took to social media to share videos of the incident, sparking widespread concern and prompting discussions about the singer’s well-being.
Despite the fall, Joel appeared unharmed and continued with the performance.
The lifelong New Yorker has made headlines recently for his extensive tour schedule, which is set to continue through November 2025.
Joel, who was born in the Bronx, moved to Long Island when he was a 1-year-old, growing up in Hicksville in Nassau County.
Joel maintains Long Island residences in Oyster Bay in Nassau and Sag Harbor in Suffolk County. The Oyster Bay property which he purchased for around $22 million in 2002 is now on the market for $49 million.
